Ascendant

Point of the ecliptic rising above the horizon at birth. Marks the boundary of the first house and depends on time to the minute.

What it means

Ascendant — the degree of the ecliptic that rose above the horizon at the moment of birth. It defines the start of the first house, and thus the whole house system, and is therefore the most time‑sensitive point in the chart: it moves by one degree every four minutes and completes a full circle in a day.
