About the project

MIRA takes the date, time and place of birth, calculates the planetary positions for that moment, constructs houses and aspects, and then explains the resulting geometry in plain language.

Calculation and explanation are deliberately separated. Numbers come from astronomical data and geometry, the text from written interpretations and a language model. The model describes what has already been calculated and does not perform calculations itself.

MIRA is an independent project. It is not affiliated with any astrological school and has no editorial team that writes predictions manually: there is a calculation core and a documented method.

The method is fixed in a document, not an oral agreement: the ephemeris source, house system, set of objects and aspect orbs are recorded in one place, and any change to the numbers means an amendment to that document. Therefore a written answer exists for the question “why is it calculated this way”.

The platform does not approximate planetary positions with simplified formulas, but takes them from NASA JPL ephemerides – the same data used for interplanetary missions.

Birth time is converted to UTC using the historical time zone of the location, taking into account daylight‑saving changes in effect at that time. This is significant: a one‑hour error shifts the Ascendant and all houses.

Where the method ceases to work, the platform states this explicitly. Above the Arctic Circle the Placidus house system loses meaning, so the calculation switches to Porphyry and indicates which system is used. There is no silent substitution: the user must know which rule their chart follows.

Astronomical – NASA JPL ephemerides for body positions. Geographical – city directory with coordinates and time zone. Temporal – IANA time‑zone database with daylight‑saving history.

Personal – date, time and place of birth. They are required for calculation and stored in the user area, linked to the account. The result is cached together with the algorithm version: identical input always yields identical output.

The public website explains what the platform does and is available in 22 languages. The user area on a separate subdomain stores personal charts, forecasts, diary and reports. Calculations and calls to the language model run on the server: the browser receives the final result.

Calls to the model go through a proprietary proxy that counts tokens and the cost of each request. This is not for reporting but for honest tariff limits: the number of requests specified in the subscription must match actual usage.

The language model receives the completed geometry – positions, houses, aspects, transit dates – and describes it in coherent text: how the theme manifests, where tension lies, what to look at.

It also answers questions about your chart and translates the interface into other languages.

It does not compute positions, aspects or dates. A model allowed to calculate on its own would start inventing degrees, and no one could verify it.

It does not predict events or provide medical, legal or financial advice. The astrological text here is an entertainment and psychological interpretation, and this is noted alongside each reading.
