6 house: Work and health
Work, order, health
Houses
What makes up my typical day?
What it means
The sixth house is routine that shapes life: work as a daily task, schedule, health, caring for oneself and others. It is a house of settings, not achievements: it concerns how a person maintains order in details.
How to read in your chart
Look at the planets in the sixth house and Mercury with Mars: together they describe routine and productivity. The sixth house governs health, but as routine rather than diagnosis: medical conclusions are not drawn from the chart.
If the house is empty
A house without planets does not mean the theme is absent. It is read by the sign on its cusp and the ruler of that sign: where the ruler is placed, the theme goes. Empty houses in a chart are usually more than half – there are ten planets and twelve houses.
Why birth time is needed
Houses are built with the Placidus system from the time and place of birth. An error of four minutes in the time shifts the Ascendant by about a degree, and an error of an hour can move a planet into the neighbouring house. Without a known time the platform shows no houses at all, rather than inserting noon and producing a plausible but wrong chart.
