Descendant
The Descendant is the point on the western horizon at the moment of birth, directly opposite the Ascendant. It marks the start of the seventh house, so the Descendant’s sign describes the type of person you choose opposite yourself: in marriage, business partnerships and open conflict.
How to find the Descendant
The Descendant always lies exactly 180° opposite the Ascendant: Ascendant in Aries – Descendant in Libra, Ascendant in Leo – Descendant in Aquarius. The Ascendant moves through a sign in about two hours, so without an exact birth time the Descendant’s sign is unknown.
Descendant and Venus
Venus describes what you like and how you connect. The Descendant describes whom you choose and which qualities you seek in the other, often those you do not recognise in yourself. For a picture of relationships they are read together with the ruler of the seventh house.
Why birth time is needed
The Descendant sign changes roughly every two hours. If the birth time is approximate, check the sign using a chart with the exact time.
